What is yoga therapy?

Although the yoga tradition was originally dedicated exclusively to the goal of spiritual self-realisation, yoga is becoming increasingly important as a form of therapy. What began as an observation - yoga does not only feel good, but also demonstrably supports healing - has now become part of the modern medical research landscape. You can find some interesting scientific studies here.

1) Goal: Yoga

The aim is to promote the state of yoga, which translates as "union - the harmony between body, mind and soul". One possibility to get to know this form of yoga therapy is the 'medical yoga class' . Here therapeutic measures are taken, such as variations and individualised adjustments to the yoga exercise. In this way we learn to respect the limits of our body and dive deeper into practice.

2) Goal: Therapy

The aim is to promote health and treat the cause of diseases. Exercises from the broad spectrum of yoga are used for this. In the 'integrative consultation' , this holistic approach is implemented and an individualised therapy strategy is discussed.

Yoga therapy is based on various procedures, which can be individually incorporated into an integrative treatment concept. These include:

  1. Movement Therapy : The Asanas

  2. Breathing Therapy : The Pranayama

  3. Mindfulness : The Meditation

  4. Diet, Fasting and Purification ( Kriyas )

  5. Lifestyle and stress management
